Going on holiday to Slovenia with an electric car
With an electric car on holiday to a country that attaches great importance to sustainability, the Slovenian tourist office is of course very appealing. The country now has an extensive network of charging stations and hard work is being done on expanding fast charging stations for electric cars. The advantage of a holiday in Slovenia is that the driving distances there are limited: the country has an area of 20,000 km². Look for an overview of the current charging points here.
Fishing holiday in Slovenia
FishingBooker – one of the world’s largest fishing holiday booking sites – recently recommended Tolmin in the Triglav National Park along the Soča River as one of the top ten fishing spots in the Alpine region. Especially with polarizing sunglasses, the clear water of this river turns a real azure blue and the view of the mountains is magnificent. The catch here is mainly trout and grayling. But there are dozens of other excellent fly fishing spots in Slovenia, the country has some 28,000km of rivers and 1,300 lakes covering an area of more than 1 hectare. Spend the night in a castle
Let’s be. There’s nothing wrong with staying overnight in hotels or campsites during your holiday, but if you want an extra romantic night’s sleep or surprise the kids on a special overnight stay, a stay in a castle will score highly. In Slovenia many castles are open to tourists, but there are also several that have been converted into a deluxe hotel. Think of it Otočec Castel on the Krka River – affiliated with Relais & Chateaux, the hotel Mokrice Castle near Brežice and Grad Castle in the hills of Goričko.
New hotel in Bovec
You want to walk, hike, cycle, kayak, raft, kayak… then the town of Bovec in northwestern Slovenia is an ideal base. It is located in the Triglv National Park – a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. The accommodation offer has now been expanded with the opening of the new Soča hotel in the centre. The hotel has 20 rooms with views of the Julian Alps, a wine and beer bar, spa and fitness room and an outdoor pool. The hotel is sleek and modern. There is also an information and reservation desk of the Soča Rafting Sports Center in the lobby.
The renovated Otocec Castle Hotel is located on an islet surrounded by the Krka River.
