The Sail Trip: sailing in Croatia – 7 days island hopping

Seven days of island hopping on your own sailing boat. Picture it for a moment: you, together with friends, the sun is shining. You sail from island to island and moor in the most beautiful bays in Dalmatia. There you will discover special beaches, snorkel in the clearest waters in Europe, visit authentic villages and enjoy a wonderful sunset every day. The Sail Trip is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure you don’t want to miss!

The creators of The Vespa Trip and the Scotland Rally have come up with something really cool for the new year: The Sail Trip! Sail in Croatia on a modern sailing boat, across the beautiful waters of the Adriatic Sea. Wake up in the morning with a swim in a bay, then dive under the bimini and head for the next island. In the afternoon you explore the new place and in the evening all relax in a traditional ‘konoba’; that’s vacation!

Can’t sail yet? No problem, because then a Dutch-speaking captain will accompany you on board who will teach you the basics and take you to the most beautiful places. Are you an experienced sailor with the right sailing license? Then you can go without a captain and you can literally drive the sailboat yourself for a week along the varied coast in southwestern Croatia.

Sailing in Croatia – the route

The route of The Sail Trip starts from the port of the old coastal city of Trogir. On Saturday you will be picked up at Zadar or Split airport and taken to the port by shuttle service. Then the journey can really begin! The first stop is the fishing island of Vis, where you can visit the most beautiful beaches in Europe and take a dip in the special green cave on Vis or the blue caves of Biševo. The following days you will visit the Pakleni islands, Hvar and Brač. The Pakleni islands have countless beautiful bays, many beaches and nice beach bars. Hvar Town is known as the Saint-Tropez of Croatia. It is always pleasant here, you can go out well and there are dozens of good restaurants. For a little more peace and quiet, you can sail to Stari Grad, the oldest town in Croatia. It is recommended to rent a vespa or a scooter and explore Hvar that way. Or go in search of the hidden bay of Mekićevica by boat. Bol and Milna are located on the island of Brač, the last island you visit before sailing back to the port of Trogir.

Or choose your own route …

The nice thing about this concept is that you can deviate slightly from the route. The route is a suggestion for the flotilla, the fleet. Since you are in charge of your own boat, you can also sail to other places, as long as you end your trip in Trogir. This is also the case if you have a skipper with you. The skipper will follow your wishes (taking into account the current and the weather of course) so that you can experience your holiday the way you want. Keep in mind that the skipper also sleeps on board, just like you. Whichever route you choose, you can expect a lot of unique islands, authentic villages and paradise beaches. And good wines, good food and friendly people …
