Remote work is here to stay and digital nomadism to grow rapidly in 2021

Gone are the days when you sat in a cubicle under fluorescent lighting for 8 hours, day after day.

The pandemic caused office workers to work from home; something that quickly became the new normal last year. With vaccine administrations underway, schools reopening and some businesses starting to recover, companies face how and And if employees will return to the office.

But many employees have something else in mind. Instead of preparing to return to the office, they have their eyes set on something new: the digital nomadic lifestyle.

Employees passed the test; Remote work is here to stay

The year 2020 gave many employers a sense of relief because their employees can work remotely; something that many workers knew, but never had a chance to put into practice.

With this, companies are changing their model to first remote or hybrid. Spotify was the most recent employer to go out and say, “Work is not something you come to the office for, it is something you do”, which has given thousands of its employees the opportunity to work anywhere.

And they are not alone. Dropbox, Shopify, Sales force, and many other large companies are offering freedom for their employees to work from wherever they feel productive.
