12 countries open to unvaccinated tourists and travelers

First, some distinctions. While it is attractive to think that all unvaccinated people share the same opinions and concerns, not everyone in this group has chosen their status.

There are numerous medical and cultural reasons why people refuse to be vaccinated. Not to mention that the international vaccination campaign has not yet reached the global reach it should have until now.

Whatever the reason, you deserve to travel and make the most of your trip. Here are 12 countries that allow unvaccinated or partially vaccinated travelers.

United Arab Emirates

Nothing makes a winter getaway more inviting than World Expo 2020, currently held in Dubai from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022.

Unvaccinated visitors arriving from ‘green’ countries are welcome to visit as long as they undertake to take a RT-PCR test on arrival and another on the 6th of your stay.

The good news is that you don’t need to be quarantined!

The emirates of Dubai and Abu Dhabi are issuing tourist visas upon arrival.

Relaxed atmosphere, reggae music, beaches and local food are enough excuses to visit this Caribbean island.

Tourists must request and obtain a Travel authorization within 72 hours of the planned travel date.

Unvaccinated arrivals must present this form along with a copy of a negative PCR or antigen test before boarding a flight to the island.

Visitors arriving from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, India, Paraguay, Peru or Trinidad and Tobago are still denied entry.

Brazil

The president of Brazil does not believe in vaccines, much less in asking visitors to be vaccinated. River of the “Marvelous City” of the country, colorful carnivals, sandy beaches and the world’s greatest wildlife biodiversity are welcoming travelers with open arms.

Just an entry requirement. Visitors are required to take the Covid-19 test and present a negative test taken 72 hours prior to arrival.

A second option is to have a rapid antigen test within 24 years before boarding your flights to Brazil. Faster and cheaper.

Mexico

Mexico’s breathtaking white sugar beaches, deserts, cenotes (natural pools) and hundreds of colonial villages have everything vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers could want for a peaceful or adventurous escape.

To make things even better, Mexico does not require visitors to have a negative Covid-19 test or a vaccine certificate, everyone is welcome!

Colombia

Belize

This tiny Caribbean country became a popular destination for vaccinated and unvaccinated tourists during the Covid-19 pandemic, not only for its otherworldly landscapes but also for its easy entry restrictions.

Make sure you pack a negative Covid-19 PCR or serology test and that’s all.

Authorities will perform some health screening procedures at entry points, but nothing too invasive. Quarantine is only mandatory for those who test positive for Covid-19 at the airport.

South Africa

One of Africa’s most popular destinations is open to the unvaccinated. Cape Town’s stunning national parks, wineries and popular resorts welcome visitors without too much hassle.

A negative Covid-19 test is required, but quarantine is not.

Just one thing. Some nations still do not allow visitors who have recently been to South Africa, so check with your embassy before booking your tickets.

Costa Rica

Its rich biodiversity and abundant wildlife have attracted ecotourists for decades. But its sparkling blue waters and adventure sports offerings make Belize the perfect getaway for all types of travelers.

No testing or quarantine is required. However, unvaccinated travelers must purchase mandatory travel insurance to cover their accommodation in case they are quarantined.

Croatia

If your dream Mediterranean getaway includes balmy weather, turquoise waters and historic walled cities, Croatia is the place to go.

Unlike other European countries, Croatia is committed to making travelers’ lives easier.

Testing is mandatory to enter, with exemptions for fully vaccinated visitors or those who have recovered from Covid-19.

A rapid antigen test performed 48 hours after arrival is all that unvaccinated tourists need to be allowed to enter.

Turkey

From cosmopolitan Istanbul to historic coastal retreats and the best cuisine you’ve ever tasted, Turkey is open and welcomes unvaccinated travelers.

They must provide evidence of a negative PCR test done within 72 hours of arrival or a negative antigen test done within 48 hours prior to arrival in the country.

Spain (Canary Islands)

Visitors to Spain and the Canary Islands can enjoy everything from world-class cuisine to diving in a volcanic sea bed while exploring shipwrecks and caves.

As of September 6, 2021, Spain offers visitors a range of entry alternatives.

They may have a negative Covid-19 test instead of a vaccine certificate or proof that they have recovered from the disease.
